Covid-19 Diaries

On Thursday, March 12, Columbia announced that the school would be closing the majority of its campus buildings due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In the following days, a three-week break from instruction, removal of students from residence halls, and many other changes were also broadcasted, forcing most of the student population to leave the city and figure out how to move their work to their homes. These collages show what we've been doing and reflecting on during the pandemic.
At the beginning of each meeting pre-pandemic, the Frank team would share their highs and lows: One good and one not-so-good thing that happened in the past week. This turned into just a "high" as we met on Zoom from our homes to focus on the good things in our lives. These are some of the things we've been doing (and enjoying) in quarantine.

I have been able to photograph myself in ways that I never would have thought to before. The time alone has really pushed me to think more creatively and explore different ways to express myself.

I’ve been able to focus on all the little things in my collage that make life good… and re-watching The Office for the 13th time.

I have gained more time with my dog, allowing us to go on adventurous walks through unexplored neighborhoods.

I've been able to spend more time doing what I enjoy, like consuming all forms of media, hiking, and practicing yoga.

Before lockdowns became a real thing, I took a road trip (safely, cleanly, and while social distancing) to Los Angeles. It was a 56 total hour car ride, it had its ups and downs, but it was a breath of air and the sunshine I needed; I was fine with just walking around empty streets.
